چکیده
At the present time a large number of AI methods have been developed in the field of pattern classification. In this paper, we will compare the performance of a well-known algorithm in machine learning (C4.5) with a recently proposed algorithm in the fuzzy set community (NEFCLASS). We will compare the algorithms both on the accuracy attained and on the size of the induced rule base. Additionally, we will investigate how the selected algorithms perform after they have been pre-processed by discretization and feature selection. q 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved

Based on insights from research in information systems, information science, business strategy and organization science, this paper develops the bases for advancing the paradigm of AI and expert systems technologies to account for two related issues: (a) dynamic radical discontinuous change impacting organizational performance; and (b) human sense-making processes that can complement the machin...
متن کاملStock market trading rule discovery using technical charting heuristics
In this case study in knowledge engineering and data mining, we implement a recognizer for two variations of thèbull ¯ag' technical charting heuristic and use this recognizer to discover trading rules on the NYSE Composite Index. Out-of-sample results indicate that these rules are effective. q 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

This paper presents an expert system for differential diagnosis of erythemato-squamous diseases incorporating decisions made by three classification algorithms: nearest neighbor classifier, naive Bayesian classifier and voting feature intervals-5. This tool enables doctors to differentiate six types of erythemato-squamous diseases using clinical and histopathological parameters obtained from a ...
متن کاملCorporate strategies, environmental forces, and performance measures: a weighting decision support system using the k-nearest neighbor technique
The choice of performance measures is critical to formulating strategies. This paper investigates the relationship among corporate strategies, environmental forces, and the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) performance measures. Corporate strategies are explored within the framework of Miles and Snow’s taxonomy, where they are categorized into prospectors, defenders, analyzers, and reactors. The relativ...
متن کاملA multi-perspective knowledge-based system for customer service management
The e-business arena is a dynamic, complex and demanding environment. It is essential to make optimal reuse of knowledge of customer services across various functional units of the enterprise. On the other hand, it is also important to ensure that the customer service staff can access and be trained up with dynamically updated knowledge that meets the changing business environment of an enterpr...
